So last night Colton had a game. They started out great, got that first hit which got them all excited and in the first inning scored 7 runs. One of those being Colton. Okay, so he is running into home from a hit that didn't make it past the pitcher, but thank the good Lord above it popped out of his mitt and the kid had a difficult time picking it back up.
So of course I am screaming, the crowd is yelling and we are just prayin' Colton slides and makes it before the ball does. It was AWESOME. I was so proud, it was a textbook slide, and he was SAFE! He was tickled pink! He is running back to the dug-out shakin' his hands high above his head! (Not caring that he has a fresh raspberry on his elbow)
His Dad runs over to tell him what a great job he did while I am still involved in the intensity of the game. I just happen to look over at the dug-out and there is my little boy just waiting for me, with a look of "MOM DID YOU SEE ME?" I seriously got a tear in my eye and ran to congratulate him.
The whole point of the drawn out story is this...
As I approached the dug-out, my sweet boy says to me...
"So what do I get?"
Bewildered I say to him, "What do you get?" Huh?? Like a high five, a kiss on the cheek? What was he looking for?
The cute boy was looking for some prize. I laughed and told him he could have a piece of angel food cake with strawberries and whip cream when we got home. He thought that would be good. Phew...
Kids these days! :)

Aawww! How sweet! Isn't it fun to watch your kids play sports--especially when they have a great game! You're lucky all he wanted was a high five or a kiss on the cheek. Mine were bribed into playing hard during their soccer games a few years back and still ask for $1 for a goal!
That is my kind of kid! I love how exciting that was for you. We haven't ventured into sports yet but I can just imagine how special it is to see your kids accomplish something they have worked really hard for.
cool. I love that we all blog. We have GOT to get our famalies together when we get home from the beach. Let's BBQ. Talk to you in a week.
I love that! It's so nice he's still little enough to not be embarrassed by a little pda.
So it was good to hear from you guys. We made the move to hot Az. it sure is nice to be in a house instead of a little apartment. Are you coming to visit us soon?
