4th of July Celebrations!

As a kid, we would head up to Bear Lake each 4th of July with my Dad's family.  I loved those long weekends spent with my family.  My Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles always made it fun for all the kids.  We would spend time down at Sweetwater playing in the lake or at the pool.  A few times we went to the Pickleville Playhouse for a chuck wagon dinner and then to see a play. We would make our stops at the Pickleville store several times for treats or toys, or head to La Beau's for RASPBERRY shakes. And then we would watch the fireworks from the deck that were being lit on the beach.

On Sunday's we would go to Sacrament at the ward there. It was always the busiest meeting I have ever been to.  Most of the meeting was taken up by passing the sacrament.  And my cousins would sit and try to find the cute girls they saw at the beach dance the night before. There was a year that I had "accidentally" forgotten my Sunday clothes, and made the mistake of telling my Dad before going through Logan. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go to church in my shorts and flip flops as I had planned.

Well, this year was a little different than heading to the lake or as a newer tradition heading to my Mom's for the traditional Granite Parade, then family BBQ we enjoyed each year.  I felt a little out of place.

We have awesome neighbor's and were invited to BBQ with them and then do some home fireworks.4th of July '08 (3)4th of July '08 (4)

We had a BLAST!  By blast I mean, it sounded like we were sitting in the middle of a reenactment of the civil war. Fireworks were going off all around us in the different neighborhoods. I have NEVER heard or seen home fireworks like the ones we had.  You all thought Dave's were bad and illegal.   It was like a Murray park firework show in my neighborhood!   It was wild!  Morgan was inside scared, Chase was inside beside himself, and Colton was going hog wild!  I wish you all could have seen it!

Seriously, those crazy fireworks around here are something else. I am pretty sure that the rate we are growing they will end it before too long. I'm sorry you were missing your family. It is tough to be far from home. We are happy you are here!
