It was so fun being back in Utah for the 4th of July this year. Living away, we missed the fun family traditions and since moving back and living in a new area we got to start some fun new traditions.
We started the long weekend with a sleepover at Papa’s house and an early wake up to get ready for the Granite Parade. My Dad drove his awesome 1950 Ford in the parade and had all the grandkids ride with him. They had so much fun. Of course we had to teach them the proper wave. A little elbow elbow, wrist wrist wrist. It was a hoot!
Next stop was to Dave’s family reunion up in Centerville. We had a fun picnic and enjoyed playing around and visiting with family. We later headed home to Provo to watch the fireworks. It was perfect, we could see the Stadium of Fire from our front porch. We gathered some neighbors and sat outside and enjoyed the show.
Monday morning and the end the 4th of July celebration, we got an early start. One of the great things about living in Provo is that every thing is so close, and they do some fun small town things. We were over at the high school field at 6:30 AM for the balloon fest. As a kid we always went up to Park City to see the balloon's, but I must have forgotten how great it was. We were able to walk all around the balloons and see them up close. The kid’s had so much fun. It will be a fun new tradition.
After the amazing balloon fest we headed home to get the 2 sleeping boys and get some breakfast. We soon headed out to the parade. It was long, but so much fun. Lots of school bands, military tributes, and pretty floats. It was a great parade.
This was such an awesome fire truck. It was a ladder truck that the back end was steered from a guy in the back. I have never seen a truck like this, it was like 2 trucks in one. Where have I been?
After the parade we made our way down to the Freedom Festival. It was a long day of fun activities and lots of walking, but we had fun. I had taken so many pictures between the parades and the balloons my card was full until I got home.
We had a block BBQ that evening with some of our friends, which ended the weekend off right. Good food, friends and games.
